Nursing & Midwifery Art Prize

The Rosemary Bryant Foundation, in partnership with Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (SA Branch), is proud to announce that entries are now open for an Art Prize to celebrate the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife in 2020.

Works must be in a 2D format. All styles, techniques, and mediums are welcome.

Rosemary Bryant Foundation Art Competition - Deadline Extension.

Due to the current COVID-19 health crisis we understand that many people who wanted to enter our art competition were unable to do so, because of other more pressing concerns. Consequently we are happy to announce the artwork submission deadline has been extended until May 30, 2020

At this uncertain time, art can be a fantastic therapy, providing a healthy outlet for expressing our emotions, as well as offering us a little respite from the stress and anxiety in our world currently. It’s important to note you don’t have to be a talented artist to enter the competition. Give it a go and unleash your creativity, your inner artist will soon emerge.

We look forward to exhibiting all works later in the year, depending on COVID-19 advice from SA Health.

Prize categories and themes

There are three main categories that artwork can be submitted into as per below:

  • Nurses, midwives and aged care workers (including retired nurses, midwives and aged care workers)
A piece that represents the rewards and/or challenges that flow from practice.

    First Prize: $1,000 | Runner up: $500

  • Students in nursing, midwifery and aged care work
A piece that represents a nursing/midwifery theory or philosophy.

    First Prize: $1,000 | Runner up: $500

  • Young artists (Four age categories of 5-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-18)
A piece that shows why nurses, midwives, and/or aged care workers are important.

Prize packs with art supplies will be awarded to winnners and runner-ups for each young artist age group.

A special judging panel will review the works and will choose a number of finalists to be featured in an exhibition. The judges are not simply looking for works that display outstanding technical skills. They will be looking for surprising or interesting interpretations and compositions; and works that demonstrate a strong connection with the theme.
